A Statera Perspective on Ethical Wild Harvesting & Conservation

A Statera Perspective on Ethical Wild Harvesting & Conservation

At Statera, our work begins long before a remedy is created or a session is booked.

It begins in relationship—with the land, with the plants, and with the quiet understanding that we are guests in nature, not owners of it.

Plants are not raw materials to be extracted. They are living beings with rhythms, roles, and relationships of their own. When we work with them, we do so with respect, restraint, and gratitude.

Wild Harvesting as a Sacred Practice

All of the plants we work with grow wild. These plants have not been cultivated, altered, or forced—they thrive exactly where nature has placed them. Wild plants carry a unique vitality and spirit because they have adapted to their environment over time, forming resilient and balanced expressions of their medicine and they do this with no support or intervention.

When we harvest wild plants, we do so in limited quantities, guided by several core principles:

  • Never taking more than the land can offer

  • Harvesting only from abundant populations

  • Leaving enough for the plant community to regenerate naturally

  • Ensuring the plant can continue its life cycle uninterrupted

In many cases, this means harvesting only a small percentage of what is present in a healthy population—sometimes just a few blossoms, dead heads and buds. If the plant does not feel plentiful, we do not harvest at all.

The goal is not efficiency.

The goal is balance.

Conservation Comes First

Not all plants are equally abundant. Some species are sensitive, slow-growing, or already under pressure due to habitat loss and overharvesting. At Statera, we are deeply mindful of this reality.

Respecting conservation is not just an ecological responsibility—it is an energetic one. Medicine made from plants that have been depleted or taken without care carries imbalance with it. True healing does not come at the expense of the Earth.

Reciprocity: Giving Back to the Land

Ethical harvesting is rooted in reciprocity. This may look like:

  • Offering gratitude and intention before harvesting

  • Supporting conservation efforts

  • Educating others about mindful plant use

When we give back to the ecosystems that support us, we help ensure that these plant allies will continue to thrive—for future generations and for the planet itself.

Why This Matters for Your Care

If you are working with Statera, this philosophy is woven into every offering. The remedies and modalities we use are created with intention, patience, and respect—not mass production or depletion.

By honoring the plants, we also honor your healing process. We believe balance cannot be rushed, forced, or taken—it must be cultivated.

Healing is a partnership:

  • Between practitioner and client

  • Between human and plant

  • Between the present moment and the generations to come

Walking Gently, Together

At Statera, we are committed to walking gently on the Earth while offering meaningful support to those we serve.

Every plant is approached as a teacher, not a commodity.

Every harvest is a privilege, not a right.

Thank you for choosing a path of care that honors both your well-being and the living world that sustains us all.
